DDNS, Dyndns.org, and the D-Link DI-624

I tried in vain for weeks to get the Dynamic DNS system on my D-Link DI-624 router to work with Dyndns.org. I gave up and decided to use DynSite instead. It does the job nicely.

Step 1 Login to the Web Management by entering the LAN IP address of the router in your browser. The default IP address of the gateway is 192.168.0.1. The default username is admin and the default password is blank.

Step 2 Click the Tools tab and then select Misc from the left column.

Step 3 Scroll down to the bottom of the screen, select the button for enabled and then fill out the following fields:

    * Server Address- The site where updates are to be sent. For example, members.dyndns.org for the DDNS provider DynDNS.org
    * Host Name- The domain name or host name that is registered with your DDNS provider
    * Username- The username that you registered with your DDNS provider
    * Password- The password that you registered with your DDNS provider

Step 5 Click Apply to save the changes.

I had tried that. :-( Apparently not correctly. I have a new router, an Asus WL-500G that works so I won’t be trying again… But thanks!
