I’ve been seeing a lot of support for the killer of the UnitedHealthcare CEO on social media but I didn’t expect to see this! I’m on Medscape.com, “it’s where the doctors go!”
Physicians Offer Little Sympathy for Slain Insurance CEO
Many physicians reacted with the opposite of sympathy to the fatal shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson this week, reflecting pent-up frustration and anger over what they described as the health insurer’s routine denials of care for sick or dying patients.
The shocking killing in New York City sparked a wave of antipathy from doctors and patients for the nation’s largest health insurer, which Thompson had led since 2021. UnitedHealthcare, a division of the conglomerate UnitedHealth Group, insures about 50 million Americans and reported more than $281 billion in revenue in 2023. Thompson received compensation of more than $10 million in 2023.

On Thursday December 19th at 10:30am and 7pm, the Madera Drama Club will be staging the Grimms’ Fairy Tale “The Girl Who Left Home to Find the Shivers” in the Madera MPR. – Directed by Lew Williams, Assistant Directed by Lee Sonko (and Abigail is one of the three “Girl” characters)
Abigail decided with a group of her friends to put on a holiday singing performance with her newly formed “CC Club”, Christmas Carol Club!
They thought up the idea on their own, asked the principal when they could do the show, made their own flyers, and gosh darn, it’s happening!
Thanksgiving with family terrific, and FRIENDSGIVING was a blast! We had 16 people, mostly neighbors in OUR house! I am thankful!
If you can’t afford a six million dollar banana to complete your art collection, maybe you can still snap up a seventy dollar diamond potato!
(oh, those Cards Against Humanity peeps are the apple (or potato) of my eye!)

Sonic installing fiber on the pole near my house on November 27th, 2024 :-)
I’m thrilled to say Sonic internet just scheduled me for an upgrade to their fiber! I’ve had Sonic through AT&T’s fiber at 50 megabit for 5 years and it’s been great. But the upgrade will give me 10 GIGAbit, and it’ll cost LESS per month!
I had gigabit fiber in Berkeley, and yeah, the internet felt that much closer! Also, in my experience, cable internet was “usually” fast but sometimes had high latency, but Sonic fiber (and even the Sonic DSL I had in San Francisco years ago) was always very “snappy”!

We are RVing to Morro Dunes RV Park and Pinnacles National Park over Thanksgiving! I’m excited that this will be our first real “mini-vacation” in Gallahop, our RV! We went to Yellowstone on a 2 week maxi-vacation over the summer that was terrific!
Abigail and I made 5 pounds of Latkes for Multicultural Night at her elementary school! They were gone in 60 seconds! Yay!
