How to Leave OKCupid With Your Data

This Greasemonkey script will lift all the Questions you answered on OKCupid so you can take them with you. OKCupid questions downloader. It puts them into JSON format which you should be able to convert into other, more readable formats.

I don’t have any good way of copying the other data, messages and photos and such. But that greasemonkey script is a good start.

I’m mostly giving up on OKCupid. I’ve been at it a while and I keep finding people that say, “You’re really great but I just realized I’m not available.” Some literally already had one-way plane tickets to India or New York before we met, some don’t know if they want to date at all. I’m a bit bitter.

Of all the sites I’ve tried, I had the best success with OKCupid – sorry it didn’t work well for you.

  2. Ugh, it’s gotten to the point where online dating is actually WAY worse than meeting people in person! I’ve been talking to actual people lately and it’s pretty awesome. No great romances or anything yet, but people do want to meet other people and it’s really nice. You just have to make the time to do it. You also don’t get stuff like I can’t date you because you’re 40 and I’m only 37 or you’re the wrong sign kind of crap. People have abandoned in-person flirting and as a result it’s now novel and fun!

I’m heading into Date 3 tomorrow with my okcupid woman. So far so good. I ended up in a 3-year relationship with someone from Match, though we were thoroughly incompatible. Not Match’s fault – ours – for ignoring the data.

In the last few years on OKCupid I regularly get to date number 3. I think that is much worse than just 1 bad date and calling it. My time is too valuable to waste it on date #3 and then a breakup (that takes me weeks to experience and then weeks to get over). And when I say “my time” I mean that it is doubtful a woman who is as old as I is able to reproduce.

But I certainly wish you and your date the best! It’s a crap-shoot; I hope you always roll sevens!

Thanks Lee. This is my initial foray back into the fray after breaking up with Eden 2 years ago. It feels good, and whatever the outcome, I think it will feel worthwhile.
