Reset iPhone didn’t work, how to Restore your iphone

Last night I was installing and uninstalling some apps on my iphone and the phone crashed. I tried to reboot the iphone several times but it didn’t work. First, I tried rebooting by just holding down the sleep/wake button on the upper right corner of the iphone. Normally that turns the phone on. But instead, the booting-up Apple appeared for 30 seconds and then the phone turned off again.

Then I tried restarting the phone by pushing the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time and holding it for 10 seconds. Again, the phone started up and then died.

I called AT&T who sent me to Apple and they told me how to restore my iPhone completely to factory settings.

  1. Start up iTunes and plug the USB cable into the computer but not the iPhone
  2. Hold down the Home button on the iPhone for 10 seconds. You’ll see an image of a USB plug appear on the iPhone.
  3. Keep holding down the Main button while you plug the cable into the iPhone.
  4. Follow the prompts on the iPhone and iTunes to restore your phone to brand new condition. Restoring will take about 10 minutes, and then you’ll have to fiddle with the phone for an hour to get it back to how you liked it.

Note that this will wipe all of the settings on your phone. :-(

Thanks for the info, that was exactly what I needed to do. I had to go through 6 or 7 troubleshooting websites before I fond this post!
