A Fix for the WordPress Upgrade Loop

When I upgrade WordPress (just went to 3.4.2) I have the the following issue:

It says:

Database Update Required
WordPress has been updated! Before we send you on your way, we have to update your database to the newest version.
The update process may take a little while, so please be patient.
Update WordPress Database

So I click “Update WordPress Database” and then see:

Update Complete
Your WordPress database has been successfully updated!
Continue

I then click “Continue” and it loops back to the first message! Argh!

Here is the fix:

It is apparently a caching problem with Google Chrome. Go to Settings | History | Clear all browsing data. Select “Empty the cache” and “delete cookies and other site and plug-in data”. Select “the past hour”. Click “Clear browsing data”. Done.

What’s Up With Lee’s Career Plans

I applied to the DMI (Diagnostic Medical Imaging) program at CCSF in August. They’ll get back to me in November with a Yay/Nay. Right now I’m pushing hard to get into an OT (Occupational Therapy) program at San Jose State. I’m working, taking prerequisite classes, studying for the GRE, and volunteering in OT (starting volunteering this week!) this fall! I apply in January. I’ll know a month or two later for entry in September!

And this week I worked for Kern a little buying and maintaining computers and did a full week of one-on-one teaching at the Crucible. I taught Simone Electromechanics, Arduino Microcontrollers, and Flame Effects! It was a blast!

Getting My Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 Working under Windows 7

After reinstalling Windows 7, my Bluetooth dongle (a Kensington Model 33348 Bluetooth USB Adapter 2.0) wouldn’t talk to my Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000. I would try to Add the mouse device but Windows did not see it. I browsed around quite a bit. Here is how I finally fixed the problem: (via)

Re: MS Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 not working
Hi Durden,

Went to another site and found a solution that worked. You might want to try it out.

Go to START icon and type in services.msc and select services.

The dialog box that opens has a long list of stuff but look for BLUETOOTH SUPPORT SERVICE. Double click to open. Make sure it is AUTOMATIC. Go to the LOG tab. Choose THIS ACCOUNT and type in LOCAL SERVICE. A list of password (a 15-dot string) would appear. Delete all the password in the PASSWORD and under CONFIRM. Choose Okay.

It will ask you to restart the service. Once restarted, turn on your bluetooth adaptor again. Put your mouse in pairing mode and add the mouse. It works perfectly!!!

Give it a try and see if it helps.
