Goal

The goal of the project is to eliminate the frustration and dangers encountered by people sensitive to flickering lights. We are presently developing means to that end.

Create standards for lighting in public places to ensure that people who are affected by flickering lights are not excluded from those facilities.

Give consumers a choice by creating a standard label so consumers can choose the lighting they need. The standard might rate lights on how much they flicker. At one end might be cheap LED string lights and the other end the solid continuous brightness of the sun.

Improve safety by using lighting (tail lights, running lights, headlights) in vehicles that is less distracting.

Decrease stress by giving consumers the choice to buy lighting that matches their flicker tolerance.

Organize and inform consumers.

Inform industry.

Organize research on the topic. There is a growing body of evidence that flickering lights can have a variety of negative effects on people.
