They look like small hovering clues, as if I&#8217;d moused over something&#8230;and am being given suplimentary info&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>That didn&#8217;t jibe with any of my style sheets so I looked into it. Apparently, Netscape and IE treat the <strong>Float:<\/strong> tag differently. Here&#8217;s examples:<\/p>\n<table border=\"2\" cellpadding=\"0\" cellspacing=\"0\" style=\"border-collapse: collapse\" bordercolor=\"#111111\" id=\"AutoNumber1\">\n<tr>\n<td>Internet Explorer 6.0 <\/td>\n<td><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" src=\"http:\/\/www.lee.org\/blog\/images\/20040309float%20IE.png\" width=\"143\" height=\"65\"\/><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Netscape 7.1<\/td>\n<td><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" src=\"http:\/\/www.lee.org\/blog\/images\/20040309float%20Netscape.png\" width=\"164\" height=\"68\"\/><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n<p>(note: the date is an &lt;H2&gt; tag, the text that begins &quot;Outloo..&quot;&nbsp; is an &lt;H3&gt; tag)<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve since tweaked it a bit so it doesn&#8217;t look so terribly noticeable. The problem seems to lie in how the two browsers let CSS margins affect floated text. They do it just a little bit differently.
