The battery life is trailing off and it is getting stupidly slow.<\/p>\n<p>(update: the battery life isn&#8217;t quite as bad as I originally thought. I had accidentally left &#8220;Email Push&#8221; on for the last few weeks, which leaves me with 30% battery after a day of not using the phone at all. Without Push, I&#8217;m left with 70%.)<\/p>\n<p>So what new phone do I get? The obvious contenders are iphone 4 and HTC Aria<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;d like to stay with AT&amp;T because<br \/>\n* nice keeping my combined phone bill combined<br \/>\n* I&#8217;ve got good AT&amp;T service in all the places I go<\/p>\n<p>HTC Aria:<br \/>\nPros: Open<br \/>\nCons: possibly <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wireless.att.com\/cell-phone-service\/cell-phone-details\/?q_tab=reviews&amp;device=HTC+Aria+(TM)+-+Black&amp;q_sku=sku4720254#fbid=KKSQ_WoRO9z\">crashes a lot<\/a>, possibly poor battery life, <a href=\"http:\/\/lee.org\/blog\/2009\/12\/08\/the-droid-phone-marketing-freaks-me-out\/\">Entirely creepy Droid marketing<\/a> still has me freaked out about the whole Android platform.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_3819\" style=\"width: 170px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/lee.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/apple-htc.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3819\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-3819\" title=\"apple htc\" src=\"http:\/\/lee.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/apple-htc-160x200.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"160\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lee.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/apple-htc-160x200.png 160w, https:\/\/www.lee.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/apple-htc-241x300.png 241w, https:\/\/www.lee.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/apple-htc.png 520w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 160px) 100vw, 160px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-3819\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Apple not allowing reviews of their phone on the AT&amp;T website<\/p><\/div>\n<p>iphone 4:<br \/>\nPros: solid platform(?)<br \/>\nCons: itunes is the worst media player and sync app ever, draconian dark ops feel to the company, walled fucking garden, disallowing reviews of their products on the AT&amp;T website (see image), <a href=\"http:\/\/lee.org\/blog\/2010\/07\/30\/my-new-iphone-sucks\/\">Apple not admitting to important problems<\/a> with their product, the phone slowing down for no good reason after 2 years, possibly poor battery life?<\/p>\n<p>So, which phone do I get?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After 2 years, my iphone 3G is dying.
