I see you posted this just a couple of weeks ago. What’s happened to bash.org? Is it just me, or is the site down? I can’t access it anymore, I get ‘Cannot find server’ and I have for the past couple of weeks. Can you still access it?

  2. Lee says:

I can’t get to it either. I dunno what’s up with it. I hope it comes back soon!

  3. Steve says:

Yeah it’s been days now. I miss it. Hopefully they’ll be back up soon.

  4. bryan says:

did u guys google this thing also? i was lookin for bash.org on google and found this.

  5. Steve says:

  6. ensngre says:

Hopefully? I don’t know about you people, but I’m slowly dying without bash. :\

  7. Bashlover says:

    where the shit is bash?

  8. Marco says:

I heard it died out, if this is true then it’s a huge blow to everyone who visits bash

  9. tod says:

maybe someone should try to get in contact with one of the mods of the bash site
or if anyone uses irc then ask about it on there, im sure a mod of one of the big channels in irc would know what happened

  10. Lee says:

DNS doesn’t show the owners names; the name is protected by DomainsbyProxy.com. :-(

Wikipediapointed me toward QDB.us. That looks like the place to go!

  11. AntiProxy says:

not sure what happened to it.. it just died out without prior notice.

check out http://qdb.us according to http://www.answers.com/topic/bash-org qdb.us is run by the original coder behind bash.org backend..
interesting read.. and a good enough workaround
i’d still like to see bash back

  12. ensngre says:

“Probably caught in the bitch fight between the two backbone operators who’ve suddenly decided that they aren’t getting enough cash for peering one another’s network traffic. That’s what having network bandwidth paid by the megabyte does for you.”

    Well, that’s one theory. :P

  22. SinnerG says:

Well afaik bash.org is indeed dead as can be, and I’m here to fill the void :)

Check out http://qftw.net – I’ll try to accept any new quotes ASAP (have 2 others to help me out)

Also: Anyone interested in becoming a moderator? I could still use another at this time :)

I’m planning to add more features to the website like famous quotes, help desk ‘funnies’ and more! Also, be sure to report bugs @ the forum please! (I know Internet Explorer 6 has issues :/)

Looks like its RIP Bash.org :(

Although nothing can hold a candle to bash, there are some funnies over at supportmenot.com

  25. Lee says:

Here’s what I see on the Bash.org homepage right now:

    *UPDATE*
I should have been more clear before, but here are the hosting details:
Bash is too big to be on a shared server.
We have a number of machines already, but are open to either colocating them or using a supplied machine.
Bandwidth is substantial but not ridiculous, remember we have no images, almost entirely text.
A trade or agreement can be made, but we try to:
    A) keep the site free and clear of advertising clutter.
    B) Not have substantial upkeep, as this is a hobby run by donated time and effort.

So, in effect, we offer some links to the host for their services, but no huge blocks of ads.
Thank you to everyone that has offered services thus far, there are too many to even respond to
and we genuinely appreciate the support from this great community.

    ———–
We’ll be back up in a few days.
Interested in hosting us? Drop a line to “qdb-info” – AT – bash.org.
